What can I expect on my first appointment?
Overall, the first counseling appointment is about establishing a foundation for a productive therapeutic relationship, gathering information, and beginning to work towards the client's goals in a supportive environment. It’s normal to feel a mix of emotions, and counselors are trained to guide clients through this process with empathy and professionalism.

Sec. 181.105. REQUIRED INFORMATION REGARDING CONSUMER ACCESS TO HEALTH RECORDS AND COMPLAINTS.
(a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), a covered entity shall prominently post on the entity’s Internet website and at any entity facility detailed instructions for a consumer to:
(1) request the consumer’s health care records from the entity;
(2) contact the disciplinary or licensing authority for the covered entity; and
(3) file a consumer complaint as described by Section 181.103.
(b) This section does not apply to a covered entity that conducts claims processing, data processing, data analysis, utilization review, or billing on behalf of another covered entity that provides health care services directly to consumers.

How to Request your Healthcare Records:
Sec. 181.102. CONSUMER ACCESS TO ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), if a health care provider is using an electronic health records system that is capable of fulfilling the request, the health care provider, not later than the 15th business day after the date the health care provider receives a written request from a person for the person’s electronic health record, shall provide the requested record to the person in electronic form unless the person agrees to accept the record in another form.
(b) A health care provider is not required to provide access to a person’s protected health information that is excepted from access, or to which access may be denied, under 45 C.F.R. Section 164.524.
